Barefoot
A barefoot homage to a bare-chested Saint
After running a marathon each in the Seven Continents, I had seriously started contemplating of completing a barefoot marathon each in six continents. Running on ice and snow in Antarctica without shoes is out of question. So I settled for a Six Continents Barefoot Marathon (6CBM) run. I had already run barefoot in Gold Coast, Australia and as for Asia, Mumbai Marathon was the most natural choice, which I did on 15 January, 2012. Next I was looking at the African continent. For a barefoot marathon run, certain criteria have to be looked into. Firstly, temperatures should be congenial till finish time. Secondly, it is too risky to run on trails or bad roads. One needs fairly smooth roads. Finally the run date should fit my calendar.
Querying through the marathon data base in www.marathoninmarathon.com, I chanced upon Maritzburg Marathon.
